About The Firm

If you’re here, it’s likely that you or a loved one has been injured.

If so, we hope you get well soon. If you have suffered a death, we are sorry for your loss.

We know how quickly an injury can turn your life upside down. You don’t just need a lawyer; you need an ally and advocate to help you navigate the legal system and get the compensation and justice you deserve.

We’ll tell you up front: we’re not ambulance chasers, and we’re not in this just to make money. In fact, we’re only paid when we win a case and recover money for you.1 So we don’t take on every client that walks through our door – we only take on clients with cases we’re confident we can win.

We started Cooper Sevillano because we truly enjoy helping people, and because we want to do our part to make the world a better place by holding wrongdoers accountable for their actions.

That’s why we focus on representing people who’ve been harmed by the negligent actions of others. We want to help you level the playing field against defense lawyers and insurance companies who don’t always fight fair.

Whether your case is a straightforward traffic accident, or a complex medical malpractice suit, we’re ready to listen.

About Our Attorneys

We’re Jeffrey Cooper, Agustin Sevillano, and Gerald Cooper. We started Cooper Sevillano in May of 2012, pooling together more than 67 years and about 200 jury trials of combined experience.2

  • Jeffrey Cooper has been recognized by many sources to be one of Connecticut’s top trial attorneys for the injured.3 But far more important than any award or recognition is the satisfaction he receives by helping you receive the compensation you deserve and by holding wrongdoers accountable for their actions. Jeffrey Cooper is never afraid to try a case if he believes it’s in your best interests to do so. (Read more about Jeffrey here.)
  • Agustin Sevillano, a practicing trial attorney for over 14 years, believes each of his clients deserves to be treated with dignity and respect above all. He truly enjoys helping people and considers this to be his primary role as an attorney. Agustin is fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese. (Read more about Agustin here.)
  • Gerald H. Cooper is a powerhouse in the field of mediation and arbitration services in personal injury, medical malpractice, and fee dispute cases, due to his experience and longevity in the field. His goal with every case is to achieve settlement. If a case doesn’t settle at mediation, he invests time in following up and taking an active role in helping both parties to reach a favorable resolution before trial. (Read more about Gerald here.)

While we started our careers at separate firms, it was always in the back of our minds that we would start a business together. We recognized in each other something that’s a little different from the average lawyer: compassion and empathy, and a focus on doing what’s right.

We also take pride in helping to make the world a better place by taking on cases that play a vital role in the safety of our community. By holding negligent parties responsible, we help to make our community a little bit safer for everyone.

No Matter How Simple or Complex Your Case, We Want to Help

Our business model is like no other firm in Connecticut in that we can handle cases ranging from the simple and straightforward, to the very complex.

While we have a focus on helping those who’ve suffered personal injuries, we also aren’t afraid to take on bigger, more complex cases. We work with the best medical, forensic, scientific and investigative experts, especially in our more difficult cases involving medical malpractice, defective products, and birth injury cases.

We also use state-of-the-art courtroom technology, using focus groups and mock juries to provide you with a winning advantage before the first juror is even picked. We believe the key to our trial success is in our relentless preparation.

Bottom line: we’re never afraid to try a case if we believe it is in your best interest to do so. When we take you on as our client, we’ll do what it takes to achieve a fair outcome.

We Don’t Get Paid Until You Win

At Cooper Sevillano, we’re not paid upfront or on an hourly basis. Instead, we’re only paid when we win a case and recover money for you.1 We believe that this contingency-fee system is crucial to providing all of our clients with equal access to the courts.

That’s why we’re selective about the cases we agree to handle. If we don’t believe a case has merit, or if we don’t think we can win a case, we’ll respectfully decline.

Get in Touch Today

If you have been injured or a loved one has been injured or killed, it is very important to call and find out if you have a case.

There is no charge for an initial consultation and we are always interested in speaking to our community members about personal injury related matters.

  1. We do business on a total contingency basis. This means that we only subtract the court costs and expenses if you receive a positive recovery from your case. Our attorney’s fee is taken first, then the court costs and expenses get subtracted from the gross proceeds recovered after our fee.
  2. Please be aware that past results are not a guarantee of future results. It is important to hire an attorney based on skill, experience and any other factors you consider important, not just on past awards.
  3. Jeffrey Cooper has been named a Top Rated Medical Malpractice Attorney by Super Lawyers, a Top Attorney in Personal Injury by AVVO (10.0 rating), a Top 100 Connecticut Trial Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers, a Nationally Ranked Top 10 Personal Injury Attorney by the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys and a Connecticut Top 40 Litigation Lawyer by the American Society of Legal Advocates, all before turning 40.
